In a heart-warming display of solidarity, women from Mashonaland West Province have rallied behind First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa’s efforts to alleviate the plight of Nyabira children by donating an assortment of food items, reinforcing a growing culture of compassion inspired by her work.
The gesture follows Mother Zimbabwe’s ongoing feeding and food distribution programme targeting vulnerable children whose families are living in an open settlement in Nyabira, with no land for farming or sustainable livelihoods, leaving households exposed to hunger.
Moved by what they described as the First Lady’s hands-on, motherly intervention, women from the Mashonaland West business community are mobilising resources to complement her efforts, particularly in support of children who had begun to show signs of malnutrition but are now recovering following the First Lady’s intervention.
Through the Angel of Hope Foundation, Dr Mnangagwa has been preparing and providing nutritious meals to children on a regular basis, an initiative that has brought relief, dignity and renewed hope to affected households.
During the latest outreach yesterday, children were first served warm, balanced, nutritious meals before receiving snacks, transforming the gathering into a joyful and celebratory occasion marked by smiles and laughter.
Speaking on behalf of the Mashonaland West women’s business community, Ms Stabile Munyuki said the prevailing hardships facing the province and the nation had compelled businesswomen to act beyond profit and focus on community welfare.

Ms Munyuki said the First Lady’s consistent, practical involvement through the Angel of Hope Foundation had served as a powerful example, motivating women in business to unite and play an active role in supporting vulnerable children.
“We have witnessed the efforts of the First Lady, where meals are prepared and children are fed on a weekly basis. This initiative has brought relief, dignity and hope to many vulnerable households,” she said.
Ms Munyuki said the provision of food hampers to parents had further strengthened family support systems at household level, ensuring that assistance extended beyond the feeding points into homes.
“These selfless acts have inspired us as women in business to step forward, unite and play our part in supporting our communities.
“Motivated by her example, we are encouraged to give back, to care for the vulnerable, and to complement these efforts through our own initiatives as a business community,” she said.
The collaborative effort not only provided immediate relief to children but also highlighted the power of women-led partnerships rooted in empathy, unity and shared responsibility.
Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Minister Marian Chombo, has commended efforts by First Lady Dr Mnangagwa to support vulnerable children in Nyabira.
“Our mother (First Lady) has a nurturing and compassionate heart. She saw that these children were starting to show signs of malnutrition, hence she initiated her feeding scheme, but now their health is being restored.”

Minister Chombo said the support also reached parents and guardians, as the well-being of children is closely linked to the stability of their families.
“During this Christmas period, our First Lady did not only provide food to the children, she also ensured that parents and guardians were assisted through food hampers,” she said.
Minister Chombo said the initiative is a clear example of leadership rooted in empathy, generosity and genuine concern for the most vulnerable members of the community.
More than 1 000 households are benefiting from the sustained feeding programme and food assistance in Nyabira, underscoring how a single act of kindness can trigger a ripple effect of collective action.
