Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo has implored people across the province to unite if the goal of building it is to be achieved.

Advocate Ndudzo made the passionate call while delivering his remarks during the Mashonaland East Provincial Development Committee meeting held in Marondera on Tuesday.

All Government provincial heads of departments, parastatals, agencies, as well as representatives from all local authorities in the province attended the meeting.

“As a province, we need to work collectively and coherently. We need to make sure that we are not working in silos,” he said.

“I have noticed that there are some people who want to work alone, who want to do their own things. Please, let us work together as a team.

“I want to plead with you, with everyone here, please avoid operating in silos, avoid running solo shows. Let us try to work collectively in matters of development, that is important.”

Advocate Ndudzo challenged local authorities to put measures in place to lure investors, local and international.

“I have noticed a trend where we sometimes spend time and a lot of effort in frustrating and obstructing the smooth flow of investments. This I have observed,” he said.

“Let me emphasise that as public officers, our role is to facilitate, to enable and to create an environment which is conducive for investment to flow into our province.

“When we talk of investments, we just do not expect investors to flow; let us be active and lure investors.

“Let us start by inviting local investors. We know people with capacity. So we should be proactive when it comes to investment.”

Advocate Ndudzo advised participants at the meeting to observe the law in everything they do.
