WHEN DStv Rangers began their campaign in the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league early this year, things were not looking good for the club. At one time they were second-from-the-bottom of the table with a single win from nine matches, but they have made significant progress since then.
Rangers coach Ikabot Masocha, who was mandated with the task of taking the team to a respectable position by the end of the season, is a happy man after his team managed to get an away win against his former team Starbill on Saturday.
“Basically, it’s a good feeling to win regardless of the fact that it’s your former team or not.
“We are very excited of winning that particular match.
“The record at DStv has been that we are not consistent. Normally when we are at home we win and when we play away we lose points. But this time around we managed to win.
“Our goal was just to try and pull the team out of the relegation zone and slowly we are getting there,” said Masocha.
Masocha, however, said there was still room for improvement.
“There is space for improvement. Considering that we have young players and seniors, we are not yet at the point we feel we should be.
“Basically, I believe every day we should learn from what is happening around us. As a club there are certain areas we need to improve administratively.
“Sometimes we need to sit down and revisit the way we do things.
“I am glad to announce that the guys are coming out slowly. Now we are assisting each other as a team on the goals we want to achieve as a club.
“We have been trying to help the players respond positively to our training methods and realise their full potential and dreams. If the players improve individually we will benefit as a team,” said Masocha.
Rangers won 2-1 against Starbill with their goals coming from veteran forward Gilbert Mushangazhike in the second half.
