Masomere blasts executive

SHABANIE Mine coach Luke Masomere has launched a scathing attack on his team’s leadership accusing them of sabotage, as they take on rivals FC Platinum, in a Zvishavane Derby at Mandava this afternoon.
Masomere, who last week indicated that he could be on his way out of the asbestos miners camp, yesterday vented out his fury and said the executive, led by Greg Mataka, has been frustrating the players and made his job difficult to motivate them on the field.
Shabanie Mine have been struggling under financial challenges this year.

“I would want to urge our bosses to be more professional. They are letting the team down. How do you expect the team to win when the management is running the club like a mine? They should not take footballers for granted. A lot of things are happening here and we cannot just pretend as if everything is normal. Football cannot be run with the mentality of running a mine. Our executive must wake up and be more organised,” said Masomere.

Despite his frustrations, Masomere warned FC Platinum not to habour high hopes when the two teams meet this afternoon.
“I have been in such situations so many times and it’s very exciting when people threaten each other. I just want to remind FC Platinum that 2013 is our year and we will continue dominating them,” said Masomere.

“I just want to remind people that whether they like it or not FC Platinum are a force to reckon with in Zimbabwe and they have changed the face of football.

“I respect them and we are going to play our match in a friendly atmosphere.”
The two Zvishavane rivals will clash for the third time this season in a Castle Lager League match and currently Shabanie have the bragging rights.

Lloyd Mutasa’s men have everything to play for as they are in contention for the league championship and will need a victory to keep alive their chances of bringing the league championship to Zvishavane come the end of the season.

Shabanie would also want to garner maximum points so that they finish the season in the top eight and maybe defend the BancABC Sup8r Cup which has seen a number of their players buying cars for the first time in their history after receiving 50 percent of the prize money two weeks ago.
