“Chicken Inn are a very good team who have talented players in every department,” said Masomere.
“It will be, however, difficult for them to beat me again on Friday because I do not normally lose to the same team in one week.
“I have two strikers after losing Farai (Mususunye) through injury and he in plaster. I have been forced to play Smart (Muchabayiwa), my defender, as a striker because of limited resources.
“I am going to do my best with what is at my disposal and I am going to asses the injury to Tafadzwa (Mombeshora) tomorrow (today).”
Shabanie lost their league match 1-2 on Sunday and they appeared to have lost their way when Mombeshora was withdrawn through injury.
They bombarded the Chicken Inn goal but could not find a way past the ‘keeper Njabulo Nyoni.
The two teams will again meet in a space of five days and, this time, Chicken Inn will be at home as they were seeded.
In March, at the beginning of the season, the Gamecocks beat CAPS United to win the NetOne Charity Shield at Mandava.
“Cup games are tough but we do not expect to lose at our favourite stadium (Mandava) which always gives us a very good memory,” coach Mandla Mpofu told The Herald.
The arrival of Mkhupali Masuku appears to have given a new dimension to the Gamecocks’ game.
“We indicated at the beginning of the season that we are playing our games for the late Adam (Ndlovu), he started a project and we must finish it,” said Mpofu.
“We need to win the BancABC Cup or the Mbada Cup for him.
“We also need to finish in the top four and probably challenge for honours which will be a bonus for us because we want his spirit to be happy.”
