Pupils at Pumula High School are reportedly failing to come to terms with what transpired at the school last week when there was mass hysteria.
The incident has been linked to supernatural powers with pupils coming up with different theories about what transpired.
A teacher who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that it all started when one of the Form Four pupils fell into a trance and when others tried to help her up, they all got caught up in the same storm and fell down.
a?One of the girls in the class became ecstatic and when her other classmates tried to help her, they all fell down as if possessed and rolling their tongues.
a?The boys failed to help them as they also fell weak and could not move, but fortunately when all this happened they were seated in a shed where other pupils easily noticed what was happening.
a?After realising that all was far from well, they alerted teachers and most of them watched from a distance as they feared being attacked as well.a?
Business at the school came to a halt and a pastor was called to pray for the school.
a?The pupilsa parents were also phoned as most pupils remained weak even after the prayer session.
a?Surprisingly, on the following day, pupils who managed to come to school had no voices and they all claimed they had woken up like that,a? said the source.
Since the fateful day, the incident has become the talk of the suburb with different speculations linked to it.
Bulawayo acting provincial education director Mrs Ollicah Fikelephi Kaira confirmed the incident revealing that one of the pupils had an epileptic attack and other pupils got disturbed and collapsed as well.
a?I can confirm that a Form Four girl had an epileptic attack and thereafter other girls collapsed, but the situation is now calm at the school,a? she said.
