When traditional instruments — mbira and ngoma — are brought on one stage and fused, they bring an interesting melody, especially when accompanied with other instruments.
These instruments have been used mostly in Afro Jazz music and have given depth to the genre that is rising.
Our own musician Victor Kunonga is one artiste who has managed to show his prowess in playing these two instruments at most of his shows.
With these instruments, the musician has managed to give fans refreshing moments and that will be the same case when he shares stage with Norman Masamba at Dandaro Inn tonight.
Masamba is part of Kunonga’s band but has assembled his own outfit.
They share the stage in most cases and they have managed to give fans their best.
A lot is expected at the show as the two musicians will be battling to thrill the crowds.
Whenever these two musicians meet they give fans real value of their hard earned cash.
Both camps promised to usher memorable acts on the show.
Tracks on Kunonga’s latest album “Kwedu” will be part of his play list as they have been requested at most of his shows.
Some of the songs are “Murume Murume”, “Tinotenda”, “Wagadzirira”, “Kushanda”, “Cheuka, Kure Kwatabva”, “Kumagobo”, “Ruzevha”, “Mhofu”, “Kwedu”, “Ruvengo” and “Ikhothab Eyikhothayo”.
Kunonga has been staging shows in and outside Harare.
In most of the shows the musician thrilled his fans with his latest album which is fast gaining popularity.
Event organisers said it was good to have the two musicians at the joint.
“We are giving our patrons and music lovers the best. We do not select artistes but they all come to meet their fans here,” said the organisers.
