Mastering the craft: Luthuli Dlamini guides young thespians

POPULAR actor Luthuli Dlamini is conducting an acting masterclass at a local conference centre in Bulawayo. A sizeable crowd has turned up to listen to him impart knowledge about the film industry.

Chief among the topics discussed has been audition preparation.
“Preparing for an audition is one of a performer’s most important skills. Always project your voice and make sure you are heard.
“One of the best ways to achieve this is by rehearsing your lines in front of a mirror before going on set. This will help you master your lines,” said Dlamini.

The Bulawayo-born actor has also emphasised the need for actors to break down their scripts, understand the depth of their characters, and embody them fully.

Up-and-coming thespians were taken through drills and script analysis to enhance their understanding of character development.

The masterclass also featured musician Bhekiwe and Khaya Arts Productions director Future Dube.
Dlamini’s experience in both elevision and stage performances spans over two decades in the film industry. Before returning to South Africa, the seasoned actor will conduct another masterclass at the same venue on Sunday.
