AN explosive weekend in bowling is expected to begin this morning when all the country’s top bowlers converge at Highlands Sports Club to compete in the Zimbabwe Bowls Masters tournament.
All the players arrived yesterday and the greens were open to all who felt they needed last-minute practice before the big day.
The three-day tournament will run through to Monday, which is a public holiday, to give the fans the best bowls one can see on the local scene.
The Masters is one of the biggest tournaments for the local bowlers, where players compete in the Singles discipline.
Denis Streak and Jono Evans are some of the top players expected to feature.
Timothy Machisa will be making his second appearance.
Tom Craven, Collin Robertson and Clive Robertson provide the crew from the capital.
In the women’s section, Kerry Craven, Jane Rigby, Jenny Schoultz, Mel James, Julie Barnes, Ally Dale and Heather Singleton are expected to battle for the grand prize.
“Finally, all is set and we are all ready and looking forward to the first round,” said Craven.
