AIR Force of Zimbabwe golfer Cecilia Masukume won the fourth edition of the TP Rukawo Golf Tournament at Chegutu Golf Club with a combined score of 76.The two-day tourney ended on Sunday.Playing off a handicap of 27, the Suri-Suri based golfer carded rounds of 34 and 42 to win the tournament.Masukume also claimed prizes for the longest drive and nearest to the pin among the ladies.
Second place went to seasoned golfer Colin Zintambira off six handicap as he carded 41 and 34 while Passmore Dvenge was third with a combined score of 74 points.Dvenge recorded rounds of 29 and a 45 in the second round.Bruce Newman (14 handicap) also carded 74 with rounds of 38 and 36 to finish fourth.
Tournament sponsor, Tofirei Rukawo, finished eighth.The other winners on the day included Elton Mandimuniya who had the longest drive among the men on hole number two while Arthur Kanyimo received a prize for driving nearest to the pin on hole numberRukawo said he was happy with the numbers and quality of golfers at this year’s event.
He added the main aim of this year’s event was to raise funds to revamp Chegutu Golf Club.“We want to ensure the survival of these clubs and the sport in Mashonaland West province.
