Masunda under fire

He left in a huff and sent an SMS to senior MDC-T officials informing them of his unhappiness at being made to wait outside Harvest House “as if ndashaya zvekuita”.
Councillors, who attended the routine meeting, said provincial chairman Mr Paul Madzore threatened that Harare province will disown Mr Masunda. The province will not support his re-appointment as mayor in the event MDC-T wins the next council elections.
Mr Masunda said he was not aware of the plot to “disown” him by either the councillors or their principals.
The messages that Mr Masunda sent to former Councillor Warship Dumba and Mr Madzore were read out in the meeting.
Some in the meeting said in future MDC-T should not appoint a mayor from outside the elected councillors.
But provincial secretary Mr Willias Madzimure said the province had not taken a position “to disown the mayor”.
