AUTHORITIES in Masvingo Province have completed 77 projects funded through devolution funds across as the Government continues to work towards uplifting the lives of the people.

Some of the projects that have been completed are aimed at the provision of clean and safe water, health and education.

Speaking on Friday last week, the Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Ezra Chadzamira, said the projects would assist in uplifting  livelihoods in different communities.

“Masvingo Province was allocated $1,85 billion in the devolution project for the 2021 financial year which will go a long way in uplifting the livelihoods of our people.

At least 77 projects were completed in the 2020 financial year and have improved livelihoods through access to education, health, water and sanitation facilities and services for previously marginalised communities,” he said.

Cde Chadzamira said several other projects such as  rehabilitation of airports and irrigation schemes were funded through line ministries with a total of $6,2 billion.

“Several other infrastructure projects received funding through the line ministries in 2021 amounting to $6,2 billion and they cover irrigation schemes, clinics, schools, biogas projects, lodges, restaurants, airports refurbishment, research, universities and vocational training centres.”

The Government introduced the devolution concept to ensure  development of provinces and districts is decentralised.
