leaders FC Platinum and Masvingo at Mucheke could be the main show.
Masvingo, who have been hard to beat at home, host FC Platinum tomorrow with coach Luke Masomere promising that he has a team capable of stunning the high-riding moneybags.
Masomere said he has great respect for FC Platinum but is worried that he will be fielding a disjointed side.
“FC Platinum are a very good side but we are not intimidated by them. We have a team capable of beating FC Platinum on Sunday if the guys play well,” said Masomere.
Masomere said his main worry centred on several players who will be missing. Already Masvingo have been operating without striker Tendai Nyamadzawo who parted ways with the club. Defender Blessing Mazorodze has also left the club while skipper Cyprian Muchabaya is also unavailable with Johnson Zimbabe still in South Africa.
“We are also missing Tawanda Mapara who went AWOL but we hear he is in Mutare. There is Phillip Chandisaita who got a red card against Chicken Inn and then Peter Makuvise who got a red card against Motor Action,” said Masomere.
Despite having a depleted side, Masomere said they remain confident on posting a good result.
“It does not mean were are not looking forward to the game against FC Platinum. We are ready and raring to go,” said Masomere.
FC Platinum go into the match as favourites as a win will consolidate their position at the top of the log. The log leaders have been gaining confidence, with each passing game, since the arrival of Rahman Gumbo, who is yet to lose a game after three games in charge.
With the towering Daniel Vheremu, Khumbulani Banda, Zeph Ngodzo, Tafadzwa Dube and Norman Togara in the side, it’s hard to imagine FC Platinum losing.
But Yuna Yuna, at home, are a tough nut to crack. Another interesting match will see Hwange hosting Zimbabwe Saints at the Colliery.
Hwange are still buoyed by their 1-0 win over Highlanders in their last game at Barbourfields. Tennat Chilumba, the Hwange coach, wants to build a formidable outfit after a rather slow start to the season.
At Sakubva, Shooting Stars host Black Mambas. The Wild Boys have roped in former CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe who will be taking charge of his first game since his appointment as technical director. Tonderai Marume remains the coach and he wants the Mutare fans to rally behind them as they settle at the new venue. All is not well at the police side after their relationship with sponsors Twalumba Holdings was terminated recently.
Meanwhile, CAPS United defender Gilbert Mapemba is in South Africa trying his luck with Platinum Stars.
