Masvingo pile pressure on Jongwe

MAXWELL Takaendesa Jongwe was staring down the barrel of a gun after CAPS United slumped to a fourth straight defeat in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at Mucheke yesterday.
The under-fire CAPS United coach, who has just picked up one out of 15 points since taking over from Moses Chunga, now faces the real possibility of being sacked this week.

Incredibly, CAPS United have scored just once since Jongwe took over and the Green Machine have conceded nine goals in the process.
No wonder why the joke about Jongwe in town now is “Takaendesa CAPS United ku relegation.”
Jongwe had to be escorted by police as he left the stadium with CAPS United fans baying for his blood.

CAPS United are now behind Chunga’s Gunners, on the league table, and that hasn’t gone down well with the Green Machine fans.
Jongwe, who was booed off the pitch at Rufaro when his team lost to Monomotapa 0-3, will be lucky to survive this week.
Masvingo United rebounded from their first home defeat, against Motor Action, to put on a flawless performance that condemned the Green Machine and cranked the pressure on Jongwe.

The hosts got their solitary strike, which made the difference, in the 40th minute courtesy of Pevington Zimoyo whose shot beat goalkeeper Muzondiwa Gonese.
Inspired by the goal, Yuna Yuna, now under the tutelage of Saul Chaminuka following the departure of Luke Masomere to Shabanie Mine, almost doubled the lead a minute before the break.

The stylish Zimoyo beat defender, Asani Nhongo, and squared a pass for Takunda Mapara whose effort rattled the side of the netting.
After the break Masvingo United continued to pile on the pressure with Chaminuka bringing in striker, Fungai Marima, in an attempt to add potency in his attach.

Jongwe pulled out Douglas Walaza for Ashley Rambanapasi but it was the hosts who threatened to stretch the lead in the 69th minute after Marima dribbled past a cluster of defenders but his shot was just wide.

Yuna Yuna coach Chaminuka paid tribute to his charges saying his team was responding well to his rebuilding exercise.
