Zimpapers Reporter

Police in Masvingo arrested three men on 26 December 2025 for unlawful possession of copper cables, following a tip-off that led officers to a house in Westview.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said Tinashe Zengeya (31), Roane Kembo (44) and Willium Tunhuma (41) were apprehended while loading burnt copper cables into sacks.

A subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of several electrical copper cables and copper rewinds.

During the arrest, the suspects attempted to bribe police, resulting in an additional charge of bribery. Police seized USD 200 offered as a bribe and recorded it as an exhibit.

The ZRP said the arrests were made after acting on a tip-off, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb copper theft in the province.
