Masvingo Zanu-PF elects new executive committee

THE Zanu-PF leadership in Masvingo has ushered in a new executive committee to run the province for the next three years.

This follows the recent ouster of a number of members of the old executive who were accused of fanning factionalism.

New provincial spokesperson Cde Ronald Ndaba told journalists on Monday during a media tour of Sandon Christian College in Gutu, that the new executive will be led by former secretary for administration Cde Ezra Chadzamira.

He said the old committee comprised mostly of senior members acting on an interim basis.

Cde Ndaba reaffirmed the province’s decision to fire former acting chairman, Cde Paradzai Chakona for allegedly misusing party property.

He said in pursuit of justice, the party has since reported the matter to the police since Cde Chakona is accused of having stripped party vehicles of parts without the consent of the executive.

“It is their job to put to rest the rumours of factionalism in the province and work for the party so that victory is guaranteed in the 2018 general elections,” said Cde Ndaba.

“Those elected are: chairman: Cde Ezra Chadzamira, vice chair ,Cde Amassa Nenjana, secretary for administration, Cde Ailess Baloyi, secretary for finance, Cde Killer Zivhu, secretary for commissariat Cde Jappy Jaboon, secretary for security, Mathias Masasire and secretary for transport, Cde Renias Machoko.”

“The elected got their mandate from 43 eligible voters out of a total of 50 members at the Zanu PF offices in Masvingo (yesterday) on Sunday.

“The new committee has been given a mandate to see off the present tenure of office which is left with three years,” said Cde Ndaba.

He said the new committee is yet to be approved by the politburo in line with the party regulations.
Since the removal of former chairman Cde Kallisto Gwanetsa through a vote of no confidence in May and his subsequent five year suspension from the party, Masvingo had not elected a substantive chair.

Cde Chakona took over from Cde Gwanetsa in an acting capacity but was also ousted last month over allegations of misuse of party vehicles.
