BULAWAYO hip hop artistes POY and TKP will be travelling to Harare this weekend to perform at the inaugural People’s Choice Awards on Saturday evening.
The event taking place at the Harare International Conference Centre will see the Bulawayo artistes performing alongside Jah Prayzah, Sulumani Chimbetu and South Africa’s songbird Zahara.
Award winning POY will dish out his latest festive hit keSummer while fast-rising female artiste TKP, real name Sindisiwe Dube, is looking forward to entertaining a different crowd.
Star FM general manager Comfort Mbofana said the awards ceremony would be unique as nominees will be selected by listeners in eight categories, Businessperson of the Year, Most Influential Person under 40, Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year, Humanitarian of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Producer and Sportsperson of the Year.
“Nominees will be revealed on Friday and they aren’t being selected by us, but by our loyal listeners whom we’ve asked to vote for citizens whom they think have been outstanding in any of the categories,” Mbofana said.
“This is one of our many ways of taking radio to the people by engaging listeners.”
Voting which is being conducted through the radio station’s SMS and WhatsApp platforms on mobile number, 0784 221 777 closes on Friday.
