Mat Hockey Board to host coaching clinic

“Wright is a former Springboks women hockey captain who led the team from 1995 to 2006,” said Watson.
“She has played over 200 internationals and participated in the Olympics, World Cup, Commonwealth Games, All-Africa Games, and Champions Trophy. She now coaches the SA Under-21 girls’ side and runs her own hockey action coaching programme.
“Peter Wright is also a top FIH umpire, and has refereed many top level international games.
“This is a very exciting opportunity for all hockey coaches and umpires in Zimbabwe to gain knowledge from a very experienced coach and umpire.”
Watson said it was important to ensure the coaching and umpiring clinics were a huge success story.
“We need to make it a big success as to travel all the way from Johannesburg means they are giving up their time to help in the development of our hockey.
“It is a very generous offer from Lindsey, who is a former Zimbabwe player, and is keen to help.
“It is imperative that as many people as possible attend the course to help further the development of hockey in Zimbabwe,” Watson said.
