Mat South gets $500 000 dipping chemicals

Speaking at the same occasion, the principal Government veterinary officer, Mr Enat Mdlongwa, said the chemicals were welcome in the province as it had major problems with cattle diseases that contributed to poverty and starvation.
“The chemicals will reduce tick infections and the impact caused by internal worms,” said Mr Mdlongwa.
He said if livestock diseases were cured, it would increase animal production and reduce poverty and starvation.
Recently President Mugabe launched the US$27 million Presidential Well- Wishers Special Agricultural Inputs Scheme that would benefit 712 400 households in the 2011/2012 farming season.

The two Matabeleland provinces, North and South, were promised dipping chemicals and other veterinary remedies worth US$1 million.
Matabeleland South has 530 478 cattle.
Over the years farmers have lost livestock due to the recurrent droughts and the economic challenges caused by sanctions.-The Chronicle
