“These cattle will cater for the welfare of Lawrence’s family. He left behind a wife and a child and they need something to assist them,” said Mr Jamba.
Police sources close to investigations into Chaitezvo’s death said the Chaitezvo family was demanding 15 beasts for the burial to take place.
“The family is adamant and insisting on 15 beasts upfront and they could as well face extortion charges if they continue to dig in,” said the source.
The source said police have since picked up two more suspects following the death of Chaitezvo.
“There are three suspects who are assisting police with investigations into the circumstances surrounding Chaitezvo’s death and then there is no logic in the Chaitezvo family pressing the Mugwisi family alone to meet their demands,” said the source.
No official comment could be obtained from the police as the Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Patrick Chademana was said to be away.-The Chronicle
