GOVERNMENT officers and development partners in Matabeleland South Province must work closely with the provincial Zanu-PF leadership to ensure successful implementation of projects that transform people’s livelihoods.
Speaking during a joint Zanu-PF Provincial Coordination Committee (PCC) and Provincial Development Committee (PDC) meeting in Gwanda yesterday, Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Albert Nguluvhe, said collaborative stakeholder partnerships were crucial towards realisation of Vision 2030.
“This platform is an important pillar in the implementation of our national vision as it brings us together to evaluate our progress, confront our challenges and collectively plan for sustainable development,” he said.
“As a province, we are guided by the National Development Strategy (NDS1) and Vision 2030, which calls upon us to accelerate inclusive economic growth, improve service delivery and uplift the standard of living of our people.
“The PCC and PDC provides the necessary platform to ensure that party leadership, Government departments, local authorities, the private sector and our development partners work in harmony toward these goals.”
Cde Nguluvhe said the joint meeting also serves as a bedrock for provincial resolutions to be recommended at the Zanu-PF National People’s Conference.
He said there was a need to strengthen planning, monitoring and accountability mechanisms to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and with measurable impact on the ground.
Cde Nguluvhe said communities expect tangible results from the Government, which is being led by the revolutionary party.
“As PCC and PDC we all have one common goal, which is to transform Matabeleland South into a vibrant, productive and prosperous province,” he said.
“Together, we can overcome our challenges and realise the full potential of our people and resources. But in order to do that let’s be together.
“As civil servants can you please realise and appreciate, you can’t divorce the party from Government. Yes you work for the Government and Zanu-PF as the ruling party formed the Government.
“The party leadership should respect civil servants and work in harmony with them as they are the technocrats that have been put in place to implement Zanu-PF led Government development initiatives,” he said.
Cde Nguluvhe said the PCC and PDC structures also have to bear in mind that they are the servants of the people and each development initiative to be rolled out must come from the people.
Zanu-PF Matabeleland South chairman, Cde Mangaliso Ndlovu, who is also Minister of Industry and Commerce said the joint meetings, which will be held every quarter, will help the party leadership to appreciate development progress in the province in each sector.
“As the party we made a promise to the people that there are certain development projects that we would implement. The baton has now been handed over to you Government agencies and development agencies,” he said.
“In your respective districts we expect you to roll out and implement people centred development projects, which will see us attaining Vision 2030.
“As a party we are development-oriented and we are here to work. Therefore, let’s work together as the party, Government agencies and development partners,” he said.
During the meeting various heads of Government departments and local authorities gave a summary of their operations and projects being implemented in the province. — @DubeMatutu
