THERE was no dull moment in Saturday’s round of matches in the Lion Lager National Rugby as all matches lived up to expectations with the “Battle of Bulawayo” featuring Old Miltonians and Matabeleland Warriors being the main event of the week. Last year’s finalist Matabeleland Warriors won the match 18-17. “It was a close game as the two Bulawayo teams fought for that fourth spot as their entry point into the plays offs. OMs look better positioned to go through, Warriors, however, are not the same team they were last season.
“The two teams matched each other in almost every department but good decision making won the match for the Warriors. OMs are happy with the bonus point they collected as that ensured they stay fourth on the log with 25 points and will be praying Warriors lose against Harare Sports Club on Saturday,” said Bulawayo rugby analyst Mehluli Sibanda.
Defending champions Harare Sports Club powered to a 31-12 victory over Western Panthers.
