TENNIS Zimbabwe are stepping up their preparations to host the second International Tennis Federation Futures Tournament later this year as they have engaged South Africa to co-host the event. ITF requires that members who want to host a Futures event should host either two US$15 000 or three US$10 000 tournaments.
TZ have already secured sponsorship for the first event with last year’s sponsor 23rd Century Systems coming on board to support this year’s event to a tune of US$40 000.
Last year they put in US$25 000.
The national association’s administrator, Cliff Nhokwara, revealed that they have engaged another potential sponsor for the second tournament while at the same time they are in negotiations with South Africa in case they fail to get enough funds to host more than one event.
“We are tying the loose ends with the sponsors. What we just need is to confirm how we are going to do it, there is a potential sponsor here.”
