Matavatava steps down

Harare Basketball Association secretary-general Samantha Matavatava has resigned and nominations are being submitted to elect her successor. HBA acting secretary-general, Benjamin Jani, said deadline for submission of nominations will be February 22 with the general meeting scheduled within 21 days after the nominations.

“Owing to the recent resignation by Samantha Matavatava from the position of HBA Secretary General HBA, in accordance with our constitution, Article 33 clause 8, we hereby open the position of Secretary General for nominations”, he said.

“The HBA hereby stipulates that all nominated candidates should have a minimum qualifications of 5 O’ Levels and must have experience in administration at school, club, provincial or national level.

“The duties of the HBA secretary general are those stipulated in Article 33 of the current HBA constitution.’’
The HBA league took a break last weekend to pave way for the referees’ refresher course which was held in Kwekwe.

Foxes are leading the men’s race while Harare City Hornets are at the summit of the women’s standings.
There was no action last weekend as the referees were being retrained.
