Mathe urges caution

CAPS United coach Mark Mathe has told his charges not to underrate Tsholotsho when they clash in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon. Mathe says their focus right now was to pick as many points as possible. “We are not going to be complacent. We are not looking at their position on the log, they are a dangerous outfit,” said Mathe.

“They play well when they are away and sometimes they have been unfortunate not to pick good results.

“We have agreed as a team to start picking up points. We respect Tsholotsho and we are going into this match seriously prepared as it is not an easy game and anything can happen.

“I was happy to win at Larfage as it was a tough game. Flame Lily are doing well and we knew it was going to be a difficult match.” There was drama at the giant stadium when CAPS United security officials found a Harare man sprinkling a liquid, which they believe was juju, on the playing surface at the giant stadium on Tuesday.

Upon being quizzed, the man said he had been sent to use his magical powers to ensure that the Green Machine did not score today. CAPS United officials believe that there is a faction that is fighting to ensure that the new dispensation, under Harare businessman Farai Jere, does not succeed. Jere took over as the majority shareholder at the club when he acquired 80 percent stake while his partner Twine Phiri remained with 20 percent.

Others believe some former CAPS United coaches and players are not happy that Mathe, a man who grew up in Bulawayo and had no previous links with the Green Machine, should be given the responsibility of guiding their team.
