Mat’land dominate day two of bowling championships

THE Matabeleland Bowling Association (MBA) men and women’s teams continued to dominate the Zimbabwe Inter-Provincial Lawn Bowling Championships at Bulawayo Bowling Club (BBC) heading to the final today.Matabeleland men’s are leading by 37 points followed by Mashonaland and Midwest with 23 and 12 points respectively.

The Matabeleland women’s team are leading with 33 points while Mashonaland have 21 and Midwest have 18 points.
The four-day championships started at Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC) on Saturday, with day three and finals being held at Bulawayo Bowling Club  (BBC).

Matabeleland, Mashonaland East Bowling Association (MEBA) and Midwest have two sets of teams each, an A and B in trips and pairs.
Matabeleland A men’s trips started on a brighter note as they edged Mashonaland A 19-10 and played to a 14-14 draw with Mashonaland B in their second game, while the Matabeleland B team won their first match against Mashonaland A and lost 11-16 against Midwest B yesterday.

In the men’s pairs Matabeleland A won 22-10 against Mashonaland A and 21-11 against Mashonaland B as the Matabeleland B team were 13-12 winners against Midwest A and 14-13 Midwest B.

In the women’s trips Matabeleland teams lost their opening matches with the A team losing 11-19 against Mashonaland A as Matabeleland B lost 11-20 to Midwest A.
In the pairs, Matabeleland A played to a 12-12 draw with Mashonaland A and won 19-7 against Mashonaland B.

Matabeleland B won their first match 13-11 against Midwest B and 23-9 against Midwest A.
Matabeleland dominated from Day Two proceedings with the men’s fours first team winning their first match 30-15 against Mashonaland A as Matabeleland B lost 15-19 to Midwest A.
