Mat’land to play Sharks

A select team from MRFB affiliates will at the beginning of the year play Durban’s Sharks Academy in the coastal city.
In an interview with Chronicle Sport yesterday, George Mukorera, a member of the MRFB development technical team, said they would soon hold trials to select the team. The players will be drawn from

Zimbo Busters, Old Miltonians, Western Panthers, Bulldogs, Nust and Falcon College.
“The MRFB chairman Sean Robinson used his Durban contacts to organise a tour for our Under-21s. We are going to play the Sharks Academy and that has been confirmed. Efforts are being made to make sure that the team also plays a number of games there with other South African clubs.

“The other reason for the tour is to give youngsters an opportunity to market themselves and also get to feel how it is like playing a competitive international game,” Mukorera said.
Former Zimbo Busters duo of Biselele Tshamala and Bradley Takawira spent part of 2011 playing in Durban and they will be leaving for South Africa after New Year. Mukorera said the two players are likely to play for Sharks Academy during the tour. Some of the local players expected to fight for places in the team include Malvern Gomo, Irvine Nduwa and Thembela Ncube.
