Mauchi, TS Galaxy deal hits snag amid FIFA ban

ZIMBABWE international defender Isheanesu Mauchi has walked away from TS Galaxy, with indications that the South African Premier Soccer League club are unable to register players due to a FIFA ban.

Galaxy have been admirers of the Simba Bhora star and were eyeing him as a replacement following the departure of Bafana Bafana defender Khulumani Ndamane.

Ndamane joined South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns during the January transfer window.

On his part, Mauchi has been eyeing a move to the South African top-flight league, despite Simba Bhora reportedly still being keen to keep him for another season.

While the player travelled to South Africa to finalise terms, negotiations eventually stalled.

Mauchi would not put pen to paper as he was waiting for confirmation that the club’s international registration ban had been lifted, a guarantee that Galaxy could not provide.

The issue behind Galaxy’s administrative troubles is a disagreement with Liberian player Jegbay Morris Konneh.

As a result, FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee handed the South African outfit a three-window registration ban on December 16, 2025, due to unresolved debts.

The financial details of the crisis reveal a principal debt of approximately USD 125,000, accruing interest at a rate of 5 percent per annum in accordance with FIFA regulations. Despite a commitment to pay Konneh in instalments, TS Galaxy reportedly missed the first payment deadline last week.

As per FIFA’s policy, the registration ban will be rescinded only once the funds are fully reflected in Konneh’s account.

The failure to secure Mauchi caps off a frustrating period for coach Adnan Beganovic.

Despite losing key assets like Puso Dithejane and Ndamane, the club was unable to register any new arrivals during the January window.
