Mavhaire’s driver dies in accident

Cde Mavhaire and another passenger were injured when the vehicle, a Vauxhall Combo, was involved in the collision near Chivhu.

The accident occurred near 112 kilometre peg along the Harare-Masvingo Road.  National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi yesterday said Cde Mavhaire’s vehicle side swiped with a Toyota Hilux and veered off the road before overturning.

Cde Mavhaire was yesterday still admitted to Parirenyatwa Hospital, while the other passenger is at a local private hospital.

He was travelling to Masvingo from a special Zanu-PF Politburo meeting held on Monday in Harare.
The driver of the Toyota Hilux, who was travelling alone and heading towards Harare, sustained minor injuries.

In September 1999, Cde Mavhaire was injured in a car accident, the second one he had in less than two months.

He got injuries on the same hand that suffered fractures in the  1999 which occurred at Stop Over Business, a few kilometres from Masvingo city, Cde Mavhaire’s wife Helen who was in the same vehicle, escaped with a swollen leg while their driver was bruised.
