AMAPIANO singer MaWhoo shared a frightening experience.
She and her team were allegedly attacked by occupants of another car while travelling to their final gig of the year on Wednesday, 31 December.
The incident reportedly occurred while the group was en route to Sun City, North West, for the iRocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 New Year’s Eve event.
The 31-year-old singer, whose real name is Thandeka Nontobeko Ngema, took to social media to share footage of the aftermath.
In the video, she shows her V-Class vehicle, which is damaged on the side mirror, and explains what happened during the ordeal.
“I hope their fingerprints will show here. There’s also their blood here. One of them got hurt here,” she said.
Following the incident, her team released an official statement confirming that MaWhoo was unable to perform at the highly anticipated event.
“We regret to confirm that Ntobeko Ngema, AKA MaWhoo, was unable to perform at Rusty Rocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 New Year’s Eve event at the Sun City Resort due to circumstances beyond her control,” they said.
The statement further explained the circumstances that led to her absence from the stage.

“While travelling to Sun City from a prior engagement, the team encountered a severe racial incident and attack that severely damaged the touring bus, resulting in an unexpected significant delay. Despite all reasonable efforts by MaWhoo Entertainment and the RustyRocks team, it was not possible for the artist to arrive in time for her scheduled performance,” they said.
MaWhoo’s team also issued an apology to fans and partners who had been looking forward to seeing her perform live on New Year’s Eve.
“We sincerely apologise to patrons and stakeholders for the disappointment caused. We have ascertained perpetrators’ details, and we will be seeking further legal recourse,” they said.
The incident has sparked concern among fans, with many taking to social media to express support for the singer and condemn the alleged attack.
