Mayhem as TelOne drop points

Ricky Zililo, Senior Sports Reporter
FORMER Premiership side TelOne supporters went haywire and blocked the team’s bus, demanding answers from the technical staff and players following their 1-1 draw at home against Loss Control in Gweru.

A video of police details blocking angry TelOne fans, shouting and attempting to get into the team bus after the draw has been circulating on social media.

TelOne were relegated from the Premiership in 2019 and went into last weekend’s game trailing Central Region Soccer League (CRSL) leaders Sheasham by five points, but the draw saw the gap widening to seven points with five games left.

Sheasham, the only team yet to lose a match this season, mauled Bishopstone 6-0 to take their points’ tally to 49 from 21 games.

Sheasham are in firm control of their destiny and TelOne will bank on other teams to stop the log leaders, with the hope they win their remaining matches.

Vubachikwe are breathing heavily on the necks of TelOne after closing a three-point gap to one following their 3-0 win over Kwekwe United. Should TelOne lose or draw away against Filabusi and Vubachikwe win against Tongogara, TelOne will lose second spot.

Tongogara were 2-1 winners at Paramount, keeping their hopes for a respectable finish alive. The army side is fourth on the table with 39 points.

Leaders Sheasham’s next game is a tricky away encounter against ZPC Munyati, who edged FC Platinum Under-19 2-1 in Zvishavane.
