UMZINGWANE Constituency Member of Parliament Retired Brigadier-General Levi Mayihlome has urged villagers in Ward 19 to join hands with the Government and help in the construction of a local school as pupils are using milking centres as classrooms.
Speaking during a Zanu-PF Umzingwane Constituency Thank you rally which was held in Ntabende yesterday, Rtd Brig-Gen Mayihlome expressed concern over improper learning infrastructure at Ntabende Primary School, adding it was not fit for children to be learning at such a place.
“We are aware that our children are currently using old milking centres as classrooms. We can only develop this community if the people come together and help develop our community,” he said.
The MP said because of the deplorable situation at the school, qualified teachers were shunning the school.
“Teaching staff do not stay long, they run away because the environment is not conducive. Last year Zimsec declined to declare this place as an examination centre so pupils had to be transferred to other schools,” he said.
He said the Government has also promised to construct a new classroom block at the school. Rtd Brig-Gen Mayihlome also thanked the community for their continued support for Zanu-PF, adding that they must remain resolute in supporting the party which is working towards bringing development in the country. The MP has been going around the constituency thanking voters for voting him in last year’ harmonised elections.
