Artisanal miners in Chiweshe, Mazowe Central and their local legislator Cde Sydney Chidamba have raised a sum of US$10 000 for constituency roads rehabilitation in an on-going programme to improve the road network.

Cde Chidamba said the initiative, which has seen 80 percent of the roads maintained is also being backed by the Chiweshe Development Association and the District Development Fund (DDF).

“We are glad for the immense support that we have received from artisanal miners at Rosa Mine as well as some of the residents of Chiweshe who have partnered me to raise an amount of US$10 000. Some of them have donated bulk fuel for the road rehabilitation programmes.

“DDF has assisted us with a grader which we are using in the constituency. For the whole month, we have covered several roads stretching from Gweshe to Chaona, Belrock and major areas that have not been easily accessible by road in the past,” he said.
