SEASONED mbira player, Edmore Chapotoka, believes more resources should be channeled towards assisting cancer patients.
The 48-year-old says women are the worst affected by cancer.
He made his appeal through a song titled Gomarara/Cancer.
The song, off his seventh album titled Gomarara/Cancer, is a direct prayer to God to save lives as cancer is now the number one killer disease globally.
“I have lost close friends and relatives to cancer, which has been wreaking havoc in most communities around the world.
“Women are the worst affected as compared to men and I think there is a need to address the issue.
“Policy makers should prioritise cancer prevention through early screening and detection of the disease,” he said.
Chapotoka, who fronts Mabvazuva Mbira Crew, hailed the Government for the efforts it is making to address this issue.
“Government has been playing its part in the whole issue but we need to complement them so that we win the war together.
“The corporate world, individuals and other service providers should bear with us and also play their part in this fight.
“My heart bleeds as we are losing people to cancer on daily basis, especially women,” he said.
Other songs on the album are Njodzi Mumugwagwa, Sango Riye Raipa, Gore Rino Tiri Vakundi, Siyai Zvinodhaka, Regai Dzive Shiri and Zino Irema.
His other songs denounce drug and substance abuse, road carnage and fake friendships.
