Former Highlanders defender Mbongeni “Mbola” Ndlovu is now sporting the captain’s armband at FC Platinum.

He assumed the role when FC Platinum played a nil-all draw against defending champions Simba Bhora at Wadzanai Stadium.

Ndlovu, a younger brother to the ex-Highlanders duo of Bekithemba “Super” and Dumisani “Fazo,” joined Pure Platinum Play at the beginning of last year, and he is only in his second season at the Zvishavane-based outfit.

Bekithemba, a former Warriors right back, is a former Bosso skipper.

“While it was good to see Mbongeni put on the captain’s armband when we played Simba Bhora in our first opening match of the season, it should be noted that our coach, Norman Mapeza, prefers to have the captain’s armband rotated.

“When some of our senior players, like goalkeeper Wallace Magalane, are in the starting 11, they usually get that armband,” said FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo.

Meanwhile, Mapeza’s charges are tomorrow scheduled to take on Manica Diamonds at Mandava Stadium.

Manica Diamonds are coming from a one-nil triumph over Yadah Stars.

Manica Diamonds coach now boasts former FC Platinum players Lawrence Mhlanga and Rainsome Pavari in his squad.
