DEFENDING Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions FC Platinum will on Saturday face Bulawayo Chiefs at Luveve Stadium without the services of their dependable rightback Gift Mbweti.
With local topflight league action going into Round 21, Mbweti, is among the local eight Premier Soccer League (PSL) players who are ineligible to do duty due to suspension after picking three yellow cards.
Mbweti, a striker turned right back, is one of the Pure Platinum Play key players who also assumes the captain’s role in the absence of Petros Mhari.
Endowed with good ball control, visionary play and ability to score crucial goals for the miners, Norman Mapeza’s men are bound to feel Mbweti’s absence when they face unpredictable Amakhosi Amahle.
“Please note the player(s), listed here under, have accumulated a batch of three (3) yellow cards and will be suspended for one match respectively,” read a statement from the PSL yesterday.
“Where a match has been postponed, the player shall be suspended during the next match.”
Mbweti will watch his teammates do duty from the terraces together with Highlanders MacKinnon Mushore (Highlanders), Farai Band (Manica Diamonds) and Gareth Madhake (Ngezi Platinum Stars).
Also falling in the same predicament is the Greenfuel duo of Tashinga Pfende and Nqobile Ndlovu.
They will be joined in that bracket by Simba Bhora’s Albert Tanatswa and Malvin Makiwa who plays for ZPC Kariba.
On the other hand, former champions, Chicken Inn will welcome the services of their midfielder Shepherd Mhlanga from a one game freeze when they square it off against their City of Kings and Queens rivals Highlanders in a derby tie that will be played on Sunday at Barbourfields Stadium.
