CONOR McGREGOR named Nate Diaz as his toughest opponent in a snub to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Diaz became the first man to beat the Irishman in the octagon, following his shock March 2016 upset.
But McGregor avenged the loss in their epic five-round rematch five months later, which still lives long in the memory.
The former two-weight UFC champion held a Twitter Q&A and was asked to name his toughest opponent.
And he simply replied: “Nate.”
Perhaps McGregor’s most famed defeat came two years later at the hands of his most bitter rival.
Nurmagomedov, 34, won by fourth-round submission although a rematch failed to materialise.
With Khabib retired, McGregor, 34, is focussed on his comeback, having been in a period of recovery.
He broke his leg in July 2021 in the first round of his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier, 33.
McGregor underwent surgery last year and has spent the time since rehabilitating.
The former featherweight and lightweight king is currently filming a reboot of Roadhouse alongside Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal.
It likely leaves him out of the cage until next year, but McGregor warned his leg injury is no more.
He posted: “Distant memory. Masterful surgeons and team. Leg is now a lethal weapon.”– The Sun.
