MCZ in bid to promote bands

“After realising that music promoters have been failing to promote young and upcoming artistes, we  decided to promote the bands by availing necessary resources for them so that they can earn a living from music,” said Charwadza.
“Apart from showcasing their talents today, the musicians would also be given a platform to facilitate musical workshops in schools that teach music at various towns and centres in other parts of the country,” he added.
The launch will see Mokoomba group performing in Zimbabwe  following their tour of in Greece, where they performed at the Womex 2012.
Gwarimba, Club Shanga and Savannah Afros are expected to share the stage at the show.
Meanwhile, MCZ is currently working towards the establishment of the MCZ Music Academy next year and the project is at an advanced stage.
The academy is expected to offer professional training in all instruments including wind instruments such as the trumpet, trombone and saxophone to young musicians by expert tutors from Zimbabwe and other countries starting in March next year.
Music Crossroads Zimbabwe Trust is a non-profit making organisation that promotes young people through music and has produced many bands that are rocking in Europe and America.
The bands that have graduated from this organisation include Mokoomba, Bongo Love, Liyana, First Farai, African Destiny, Gwarimba, Club Shanga, Progress Chipfumo and Savannah Afros.
These artists have found fame and fortune because of the MCZ Trust.
The organisation has helped nurture their talents and brought them to international recognition in some parts of Europe, Asia and the US.
