MDC-T yesterday resolved to extend the suspension of the party’s deputy treasurer-general, Mr Chalton Hwende, national organising secretary Mr Abednigo Bhebhe and youths implicated in the assault of senior party officials in Bulawayo early this month.

MDC-T spokesperson Mr Luke Tamborinyoka announced in a press statement yesterday that the party’s national executive meeting — which deliberated over the findings of a probe team that was recently dispatched to Bulawayo — had resolved to reinstate Ms Thabitha Khumalo to her position as deputy national spokesperson.

Ms Khumalo had also been suspended following the assault of the party’s deputy president Ms Thokozani Khupe, national chairman Mr Lovemore Moyo and Mr Bhebhe at the party offices in Bulawayo.

“The executive received a report from the probe team that investigated the disturbances and deliberated on the committee’s findings,” said Mr Tamborinyoka.

“After three hours of intense deliberations, the executive made the following resolutions: That suspended deputy national spokesperson Honourable Thabitha Khumalo be reinstated to her position following her exoneration from any involvement on the matter by the internal probe team.

“She has been reinstated to her position with immediate effect.”

Mr Tamborinyoka said the meeting also pronounced the fate of Mr Hwende and Mr Bhebhe, who still stand accused of making inflammatory statements and putting the MDC-T into disrepute, respectively.

Deputy national youth chairperson Shakespeare Mukoyi also remains suspended over the skirmishes.
