The curtain comes down on the Harare Agricultural Show today and the festivities to mark its end are spread across the capital.

It has been an eventful week and this weekend is one of the busiest of the year in terms of showbiz.

But more festivities are coming in the next few days.

The Harare International Carnival roars to life on September 1 and various places in Harare will have exciting events.

It means within two weeks, Harare will have witnessed massive showbiz activity and this should be the most fascinating period of the year in terms of entertainment.

At the Harare Agricultural show most top musicians like Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah, Suluman Chimbetu, Soul Jah Love and Andy Muridzo entertained people at different days throughout the week.

At the Harare International Carnival, Soul Jah Love, Sulu and Jah Prayzah will be on one stage for the carnival music concert set for September 9 at Civic Centre grounds.

After the Agricultural Show, separate promoters have brought in Jamaican artistes Beenie Man and Demarco for separate shows.

At the Harare International Carnival, six foreign artistes will be in the country.

From Democratic Republic of Congo comes rhumba star Werrason while South African artistes Dr Malinga, Kalawa, Busiswa, Uhuru and Zodwa Wabantu take part at the carnival.

More than 20 countries are participating at this year’s carnival and another big attraction would be the Samba dancers that are always popular at the carnival.

This time it will be a clash of Brazil and Cuba that are bringing in Samba dancers for the samba night that will take place at the Harare International Conference Centre on September 6.

Zodwa Wabantu will grace the Samba night that will also showcase local dancing talent.

Other events that make the carnival over the 10 days include bush party, cultural show, rhumba night, stand-up comedy night, trivia night and Zimdancehall fiesta.

But the most people will be waiting for the street parade and carnival concert that take place on September 9.

Organisers of the event Zimbabwe Tourism Authority said the street procession will start along Simon Muzenda Street (Fourth Street) and go to down Jason Moyo Avenue to Civic Grounds.

“Everything is now in place for the event and we are happy to announce that our main sponsor Big Time Strategic Group has done well to make sure that the carnival goes well during the carnival.

“The groundwork has been done and we are waiting for the time. More than 100 local artistes have registered to participate at the event.”
