THE MDC-T councillor for Ward 29 in Bulawayo, Monica Lubimbi, has been accused by a resident of allegedly destroying a married man’s family as she is allegedly spending time with the man resulting in him fighting with his wife. According to documents in court, Clr Lubimbi had a bitter exchange of words with a resident of Magwegwe North, Samson Mubhemi at a residents’ meeting.

Mubhemi allegedly told Clr Lubimbi (60), of 3755 in the suburb that she was a home wrecker as she was reportedly spending time with a man identified as Mr Farai Sibanda who was now  having problems with his wife.

Mubhemi (37) of 3032 Magwegwe North appeared in court before Western Commonage magistrate Ms Tancy Dube this week after Clr Lubimbi filed a charge of criminal insult against him.

Mubhemi pleaded not guilty to the charge and the trial continues today.
Allegations against Mubhemi as presented by Mr Frank Ncube for the State are that on 12 October, residents of Ward 29 were gathered at JW Mthimkhulu Primary School in Magwegwe West for a Bulawayo City Council 2014 budget consultative meeting.

The court was told that Mubhemi allegedly told Clr Lubimbi to boot out from the meeting people who were not members of MDC-T and she refused.

It is alleged that the two then started insulting each other resulting in Mubhemi telling Clr Lubimbi that she was a prostitute.
“Isifebe esichitha imizi yabantu. Usuchithe umuzi kaFarai Sibanda. Thina silaye owethu ukhansila oweMDC-T wena uyirubber stamp kuphela. Hamba uyetshela iZanu yakho uMolly loMxotshwa kunye lamapholisa eMagwegwe kalingenzi nex, (You are a prostitute, you have destroyed Farai Sibanda’s home. We have a proper MDC-T councillor and you are just a place holder. Go and tell your friends in Zanu-PF and the police and there is nothing you can do to me),” Mubhemi allegedly said to Clr Lubimbi.

Cdes Molly Mpofu and Titus Mxotshwa are Zanu-PF members from the suburb.
