MDC-T members in surprise appearance at Zanu-PF rally

It was held at the invitation of Chief Nekatambe who told the people that he had been asked by his subjects to ask Dr Mpofu, who is also the Minister of Mines and Mining Development, to convene a rally.

The villagers who were listening attentively to Dr Mpofu’s address were not even moved when Mr Tshuma and Clr Ndlovu arrived and sought front row seats in the tent close to where Dr Mpofu stood.

In his address, Dr Mpofu said political leaders should always work towards attaining the aspirations of the people.

“We work together in Parliament with Tshuma, we know each other and I will repeat what I said before he arrived, as leaders let us do the will of the people.

“If you concentrate on your personal goals, you will be letting them down. Tshuma, things are changing here. The people in your constituency are in need of food and if you give them three haulage trucks of maize, I will bring six.

“We do not want the people to starve and we do not want them to fight,” he said drawing applause from the crowd.
Dr Mpofu also took time to apologise to the villagers of Dinde for the wrongs done by some Zanu-PF leaders that made them vote for MDC-T in previous elections.

“There is nothing wrong which you have done. Let me apologise for all the wrongs done by the people we had put in power, those people were supposed to carry the party forward,” he said.

Dr Mpofu said he had the biggest political position in Matabeleland North, castigating party members who did not want to work hard so that they attract the electorate.

“I am big in this province, in stature and in position and I have a constituency while others who just hold on to party positions have no constituencies, they were not elected by people.

“Let me tell you, the party needs you people and we are taking over from MDC, we need to win back the constituencies we lost,” said Dr Mpofu.

He said Zanu-PF lost ground to MDC-T in the previous elections because the electorate was disgruntled.
However, he said in Umguza he was untouchable.

“In Umguza, I don’t fear anyone… from MDC-T I want Morgan Tsvangirai himself, the other MDC, Welshman Ncube while in Zapu I want them to field Dumiso Dabengwa. I will trounce them,” he said.
