‘MDC-T scared of Zanu-PF’

ZANU-PF has said MDC-T’s refusal to take part in the forthcoming by-elections despite being given a voters’ roll which they have long been crying for by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), was because the party was scared of performing dismally.

In a statement, the revolutionary party’s spokesperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said the Western-sponsored MDC-T usually chickened out whenever the “political kitchen gets hot”.

After President Mugabe announced that there would be two by-elections on March 27, in Mount Darwin West and Chirumanzu-Zibagwe constituencies, the MDC-T indicated that it would boycott these by-elections as they had not been given a voters’ roll.

“The MDC-T has finally come out in its true colours of deceit regarding the voters’ roll. First, we were told the MDC-T will not participate in any by-election without being supplied with the voter’s roll by ZEC,” said Cde Moyo. “ZEC has now supplied them with the voters’ roll for the two coming by-elections in Mt Darwin West and Chirumanzu-Zibagwe. They confirmed public receipt of the voters’ roll. Now, scared of dismally losing the forthcoming by-elections, the MDC-T leopard is now without shame trying to change its spots. They now scream that the release did not mean the party will participate in the by-elections. What exactly did they want ZEC to do?

“By-elections are on and certainly for a party like the MDC-T with no message to the people and their juice being dry, it’s pointless to take part in the exercise.”

Cde Auxillia Mnangagwa is representing Zanu-PF in Chirumanzu-Zibagwe constituency after the seat fell vacant following the elevation of Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa to the post of Vice-President and Cde Barnwell Seremwe will be representing the party in Mount Darwin West constituency in a belated by-election, which should have been held when Dr Joice Mujuru was appointed Vice-President soon after the 2013 elections.
