Chaos continues to rock the MDC-T Midlands South Province after the provincial chairperson, Mrs Lillian Acropol at the weekend announced the suspension of the Zvishavane district women’s executive for allegedly working with rebels who are contesting the elections as independents. The Zvishavane women executive which was verbally suspended during an MDC-T rally in Zvishavane include the chairperson, Mrs Germina Zhou, the organising secretary,  Mrs Faze Senga, treasurer,  Mrs Norah Tashinga, vice-treasurer,  Mrs Tusiwe Ndamwa and district director of elections, Ms Aneles Urayai.

Ironically Mrs Zhou is wife to former Zvishavane Town Council chairman, Mr Alluwis Zhou, who was fired from the party.

Mr Zhou is contesting Zvishavane-Ngezi constituency as an independent where he is facing Mrs Acropol’s husband, Mr Mike Timevious Acropol, who is the MDC-T candidate.

“There is chaos in MDC-T Zvishavane district after Mrs Acropol announced at a rally which was held at Makwasha Primary School that she had suspended the entire women district executive. She accused them of supporting Mr Zhou who is contesting her husband,” said an MDC-T official who attended the meeting.

The official said the announcement by Mrs Acropol has further divided the party in the province.

“We are expecting our president Mr (Morgan) Tsvangirai in the province for a rally slated for Gweru on Friday but he will find the house on fire. It seems everyone in the province is using his or her position to try and elbow those they are opposed to. Mrs Acropol is eyeing a senatorial seat and she is desperate to make sure that her husband wins Zvishavane-Ngezi constituency,” said the official.

Mrs Zhou confirmed that her executive had been suspended and referred questions to provincial spokesperson,  Mr James Tsuro.
Mr Tsuro, however, said he was not aware of the suspensions.

Mrs Acropol demanded questions in writing.
