Measures to deal with Glen View 8 complex fires

THE Cty of Harare’s Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Committee chairperson, Denford Ngadziore, has vowed to take preventive measures against incessant fire outbreaks at Glen View Area 8 Complex.

In a press statement, he said the City of Harare was working tirelessly to come up with permanent solutions to end fire outbreaks at the complex.

“As City of Harare SMEs Committee, we are looking into the incessant fire outbreaks at Glen View Area 8 Complex, with a view to finding a lasting solution.

“Among other issues, we will be looking at fire prevention methods for the area, as well as occupational health and safety,” reads the press statement.

He also said there was need for temporary relocation of carpenters to allow for renovations.

“This needs cooperation from all stakeholders.

“It will investigate the possibility of an inside hand in all these repeated fires.”

The causes of the fire outbreaks are yet to be established, with traders giving different explanations.

In 2019, the place was destroyed four times by mysterious fire.

Property worth thousands of dollars is destroyed each time there is a fire outbreak.
