Mechanic Manyeruke set to shine at Gospel Legends Night

Veteran gospel musician Mechanic Manyeruke is set to perform at the Gospel Legends Night this weekend at Rainbow Towers, alongside other esteemed artists.

The event, hosted by UK-based Zimbabwean gospel artist Eleana Makombe, will feature notable figures like Shuvai Wutaunashe, Pastor G, Pastor Bonnie Deuschle, the Charambas, Carol Mujokoro, Fungisai Zvakavapano, Prince Mafukidze,and Pastor Haisa.

At 82 and with over 54 years in the music industry, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform alongside his peers.

“This is a good initiative. I feel humbled and happy to be remembered,” Manyeruke said.

He emphasised the need for creativity and innovation in the music industry, asserting that, “As long as the voice is still there, absolutely, you can perform.”

While he acknowledged a shift in his focus, he confirmed his continued involvement at memorial and funeral services.

He also advised younger artists to prioritise originality and embrace African musical influences rather than replicating Western styles.

“We need to be proud of our music,” he said.

Manyeruke highlighted the importance of discipline and respect in achieving success in the music industry, warning that “bad behaviour will kill your music career.”

The Gospel Legends Night aims to honour the the artists while fostering a sense of community within the gospel music scene.
