MEDIA accredited to cover the Africa Cup of Nations finals that kick-off in Cameroon next month will not pay visa application fees following an agreement between Caf and tournament’s local organising committee.

In previous editions of the flagship tournament, journalists had to pay visa application fees. They will gain free entry for a 90-day stay in Cameroon.

The 33rd edition of the Afcon finals will run from January 9 to February 6.

“Caf and the local organising committee are pleased to inform you that your invitation to the 33rd edition of the TotalEnergies Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations entitles you to a free entry visa to Cameroon for a duration of 90 days.

Cameroonian authorities have given their agreement for these visas to be issued at your arrival airport in Cameroon.

The visa will be issued upon presentation of the letter from the General Delegate to the National Security of Cameroon,” read a Caf statement.

There have always been pleas to the Caf leadership to negotiate with Afcon host governments for a waiver of visa application fees for officials and the media, especially from countries that would have qualified for a given tournament under the auspices of Caf, including inter-club competitions.
