FORMER Zimbabwe junior national team star Mayfort Tshuma is among the Zifa Southern Region Division One League’s best players but is unfortunate to be playing for lowly Ajax Hotspurs.

The Ajax Hotspurs attacking midfielder is versatile and can be used in any position.

He spent most of his football career at Highlanders FC as he played for the team from junior level up to the team’s developmental side Bosso90.
He was developed and nurtured by his favourite coach Dumaza Dube, who was for a long time with Bosso’s youth ranks which developed many top players such as Andrew Mbeba and Darlington Munkuli.

“Coach Dumaza is my favourite coach. He gave me the opportunity to play with one of the most talented players of our age at that time and he also made me believe in myself,” said Tshuma.

The 23-year-old talented midfielder started his career as a defender at Highlanders’ youth ranks and had a famous and solid pairing at the back with now senior team rightback Andrew Mbeba which led them to winning the Under-18 Bulawayo Province junior league title.

He has since joined Ajax Hotspurs from Southern Region Division One log leaders Arenel Movers where he spent a season.
The former Lukhanyiso Primary and Mpopoma High School pupil, played nine games for Arenel last season and scored one goal and assisted three.
At Ajax, he has played 15, assisting two and scoring three.

Tshuma also opened up when asked about his greatest footballing memories, which he said was his period with the national Under-17 team in Lesotho.

“Nothing can ever be greater than representing your country and it was my first time to be selected to the national team,” said Tshuma.
He said he will use his experience to assist his team escape relegation.

Their next match will be against relegation threatened side, Makhandeni Pirates, a team which they beat 1-0 in their last encounter.
