The business awards ceremony, which is in its fourth year-running, will be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair under the theme, “Connecting you to the Great Business minds”.
ZITF Company general manager, Mr Bekithemba Nkomo will be the guest of honour at the awards ceremony.
In an interview, Megafest chief executive officer Mr Tafadzwa Matsika said more than 700 delegates were expected at this year’s ceremony.
“This year’s awards ceremony will be held on the 4th of November. The event will be held at the ZITF because of the large numbers we have managed to attract in our previous editions. We are expecting that more than 700 delegates will grace this year’s prestigious event.
“We also have a large group of delegates from Harare for a new category in the awards,” he said.
This year’s awards will feature new categories which include Zimbabwe’s top 20 outstanding business personalities, Female Manager of the Year and the Youngest Manager of the Year.
He said they introduced the new categories because they wanted to show that Bulawayo was not dead and more business executives should come to rejuvenate what was once was the economic hub of the country.
“Bulawayo is not dead but only wounded and it’s healing.
“We will make Bulawayo the industrial hub of the country once again,” he said.
The awards will be given to outstanding business personnel to encourage them to continue rendering customers best services as well as promoting social responsibility.
“Megafest awards are not popularity or celebrity awards and we are not biased towards political, gender or religious affiliation.
“We are here to recognise excellence in Bulawayo and beyond,” he said.
Mr Matsika said the forthcoming ceremony would have 28 categories adding that this year’s function promises to be a huge top class event as more sponsors have trooped in.
“For the first time in the history of the awards ceremony, a lot of sponsors have come on board,” he said.
He said the business community has described this year as difficult compared to last year in terms of operational environment.
“The awards are for the heroes that have fought in the current micro-economic environment as we all know how difficult it was,” he said.
