IN the spirit of corporate responsibility and ploughing back business gains to the community, a Mutare company has given Mutare districts’ NASH Under-20s soccer tournament a shot in the arm by donating cash, soccer kits, balls and trophies.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of the donations before the district tournament kick-off at Sakubva 2 last Friday, MegaMarket sales and marketing representative Diana Saurombe said their sponsorship gesture was only a beginning.
“MegaMarket believes in meaningful corporate responsibility and this gesture confirms our seriousness in ploughing back to the community our business windfalls. We are here today because we are proud to be associated with schools. We will do whatever we can in our limited capacity in these difficult economic times to support schools as best we can in whatever way possible,” said Saurombe.
Urging schools to do business with MegaMarket, the sales and marketing representative said those schools, especially boarding institutions in business “with us”, will gainfully enjoy MegaMarket corporate responsibility “visibly illustrated here today by this sponsorship of the NASH soccer U-20s”.
Speaking at the same handover occasion, the NASH district chairperson Tendai Gwashu, who is also school head at Nyamauru High School, thanked MegaMarket saying the company had started on a high.
“We know and appreciate that the economy is bleeding. But when we see a company itself struggling to remain afloat, remembering corporate responsibility, we sincerely appreciate. Thank you very much Diana and MegaMarket. You are the first to sponsor our U-20s and you may not realise the sincerity and depth of our appreciation,” said Gwashu.
He urged other high schools to support MegaMarket by buying from them so that they in turn “support us when we need them”.
Complementing the organisers of the tournament, Mutare District Education Officer Nathaniel Machini echoed his colleagues’ sentiments.
“I am extremely excited. MegaMarket is the first to sponsor our schools. We can only say to you, “garai kure nemoto!” . . . Keep the kettle boiling! And let nothing separate us! This is a landmark gesture of support and the beginning of a wholesome and long relationship with MegaMarket,” said Machini.
MegaMarket is a leading Mutare distributor of frozen food, and other food items, washing detergents, stationery, and a whole range of school requirements, reliably distributing direct to schools in Manicaland and beyond.
